INTERSTATE OUTLAWS ANNOUNCE FORMATION
Five-piece blues-rock band comes together at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, ready to hit the road fall 2026.
[https://interstateoutlaws.com/] — Interstate Outlaws, a new five-piece blues-rock band, today announced its formation. The group plays guitar-forward blues rock built on twin-guitar harmonies, slide, funk, and long solos.
The band came together at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis on a record-cold night outside Alfred's on Beale Street when guitarist Billy Evanochko caught fellow guitarist Vince Converse on a smoke break after a set and pitched the idea — name already in hand. Interstate Outlaws grew out of that conversation.
The sound follows the electric blues tradition of Albert Collins, Freddie King, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, runs through the guitar work of Hendrix, Peter Green, and Gary Clark Jr., and carries the groove of Marcus King, Derek Trucks, and The Meters.
The lineup:
Billy Evanochko — guitar, vocals. Pittsburgh-area guitarist and frontman of Billy the Kid & the Regulators, given the name "Billy the Kid" by blues veteran Carl Weathersby. A two-time International Blues Challenge finalist — 3rd in the 2014 band competition, Top 5 Best Self-Produced CD in 2013. His latest album, Nice Ain't Got Me Nothin' (2023), is out through Sony Music/The Orchard. He's shared stages with Johnny Winter, Koko Taylor, Jimmie Vaughan, James Cotton, Hubert Sumlin, and the Blind Boys of Alabama.
Vince Converse — guitar, vocals. An award-winning Texas blues guitarist, Converse signed out of high school and began touring internationally by age 23 with his band, Sunset Heights. Vince has opened for BB King, Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, and Jimmie Vaughan, and has recorded alongside Gary Moore, and IBC winner, Joe Waters. Formerly Denver-based, Vince now resides in Florida and he is road-ready.
Fred Delu — keyboards. Western-Pennsylvania keyboardist whose credits include the Roy Buchanan Band and Billy the Kid & the Regulators. Hammond organ and piano are the foundation under the Outlaws' sound.
Ephraim Lowell — drums. Has held the drum chair for Roomful of Blues — the Grammy-nominated blues institution — and the Albert Castiglia Band. He's shared stages and studios with Taj Mahal, James Cotton, Keb' Mo', Eric Gales, Mike Zito, Popa Chubby, and J. Geils, among many others.
Mickey Maguire — bass, vocals. A fixture of the New Hampshire blues scene, based in Peterborough. He plays bass and sings in The Blues Express and Frankie Boy & The Blues Express — the latter mentored by Chicago blues great Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson — and holds down the low end in the Kantu Blues Band. A longtime jam host known on the scene as "The Messenger."

Interstate Outlaws are booking now for the 2026/2-27 season: full-band festival performances, three- and four-piece configurations for club and venue dates, and blues jam hosting.
