Vince Converse isn’t just making a comeback—he’s ready to set the Blues on fire.
At 52, it ain’t easy. The last three years have been nothing short of a personal and musical resurrection.
Back in the early ‘90s, he was that guy—signed straight out of high school, playing in Sunset Heights, opening for icons, recording in world-class studios. He had the guitar tone. He had the fire. But like many who rocket to the top too fast, Vince fell—hard. Years of drug addiction and personal battles nearly silenced his gift.
But the blues, as it often does, waited patiently for his return.
“I went from arenas to living in the basement with one guitar,” Vince says. “But I started playing again. Every day. And I found myself again.”
That single guitar turned into a band—Big Brother, a formidable lineup of some of Colorado’s best players. Together, they’ve become two-time International Blues Challenge semifinalists, have taken the stage at Blues From the Top and the Deadwood Blues Festival, and are now gearing up for the next chapter.
Converse’s tone is better than ever…
At 2025 Blues From the Top, Kai Turner introduced him as “The Comeback Kid,” and longtime friend and collaborator Rick Lewis has said Vince is, “one of the most badass blues guitarists on the planet,” and once seen as one of a handful of players who could carry Stevie Ray Vaughan’s torch.
Now he’s headlining Dazzle Denver on September 3, and it’s more than a gig—it’s a statement. A new chapter. A celebration of second chances.
As Vince likes to joke onstage:
“I don’t have the long hair or the skinny jeans or the sexy thing anymore… but I can still play that damn guitar.”
And play he does. With fire. With soul. And with a story that’s far from over.
